OUR STORY
Norcon has been supplying retailers with Epos Till Systems for over 25 Years
Norcon was founded in 1983 by Rob Green and Kim Laws. Rob and his family were all Retail Newsagents in Derby and Kim (a friend of Rob’s and fellow dinghy sailor) was a Maths Teacher in Hampshire.
Kim wrote a piece of software called News Slave to run Home News Delivery (the daily delivery lists for Paperboys (and girls). This was trialed in Rob’s sister’s shop in Borrowash, Derby in 1982.
Having proved the concept, Rob & Kim set up Norcon Computers Limited to sell the software to other Newsagents.
In July 1983 Norcon Computers sold their first licence of News Slave. Within a few months News Slave had been sold into a number of sites in Derby, and was starting to get known further afield.
Within ten years News Slave systems were springing up all over the country and a number of those users were starting to ask about EPoS. Rob and Kim started the process of finding a partner EPoS supplier who could provide a reliable and well-established system which would allow HND customers to pay their bills as part of a transaction.
This led to Riva systems in Bolton. In 1994 the NewsPad system was born, based on the best-selling Maxipad (produced by Riva for Allied Breweries pubs). The Maxipad was unlike any other till system available, offering a small footprint and “Solid State technology”.
Since their first EPoS offering Norcon have continued to partner with the best in the industry to provide their customers with the latest technology at affordable prices.
